Two forty-five minute episodes on landmark milestones in the history of space exploration: one tragic, one triumphant. The first programme is the inside story of Apollo 11 and Man's first landing on the Moon based on an exclusive and extended interview with Apollo 11 astronaut and the second man on the Moon, Dr. Buzz Aldrin.

Dr. Aldrin introduces the second programme which looks behind the headlines at the the January 1986 disaster when Space Shuttle Challenger exploded seconds after take off. This accident shocked the space establishment to the core and dealt a blow to American confidence in its own abilities in the world of space exploration.
